Here is my own adventure!

My last role was working commercially within the rail industry and have always worked while bringing up my family.   I studied Business and Enterprise in the University of Glamorgan (South Wales).   I am a very proud mum of four professional and successful adults with eight amazing grandchildren.

Music has been a big part in my life growing up as a child with my father singing in night clubs in the Welsh Valleys.  In the late 50's early 60's my father became runner-up in a famous talent show 'Opportunity Knocks'.

I have been born with a natural percussion ability and love experimenting with my acoustic drums. 

In my youth I was a World Champion lead drummer in a Jazz marching band.    

I compose, write, sing, record and produce all my music.

My music is influenced by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Rag and Bone Man, Bjork too many to mention.

I enjoy singing old jazz classics from the American song book as well as my own songs and have been told I have a warm rich tone.  To-date I have released more than 45 main stream songs to include a number of soundtracks.

 

WRITING AND ILLUSTRATING CHILDREN'S BOOKS WITH MUSIC

During the pandemic, I quickly realised that it was important to consider our children's well-being and mental health and knew that during this time I could make a difference and decided to use my skills to create books with music to bring a little sunshine into our children's homes.  As a mum I know how important it is to keep the children occupied and stimulated and that is how Theo The little Yellow Bird was born.   

 

THE CONCEPT - Theo The Yellow Bird Children's Adventure Story Books.

The concept is that Theo will travel on adventures taking children all around the UK.

I have developed a brand 'Theo The Yellow Bird' Children's Adventure stories with free music.  I have also created a 6ft Mascot Theo and he attends book launches and book signings as well as visits schools, private functions and events.

2020 - SELF PUBLISHED AUTHOR

After careful consideration I was confident that with my extensive and continued research, I was able to self publish and created my own brand 'Theo The Yellow Bird' Children's Adventure stories.  I also thought I would go one step further and created a unique sing-a-long songs for each book, which are available to stream on most platforms or there are free MP3 downloads available from this website.  To-date I have self published 15 titles, 11 of which are for the 'Theo The Yellow Bird' Children's Adventure Series.

In each book you will also find

• A quick quiz to to see how observant the children have been. 

• Hidden characters within the illustrations for the children to count and find. 

 

All my books are registered with the British Library.  For sale on my website and Waterstones.

With my ongoing development of my marketing skills on social media.  I am delighted to say that in such a short time my books are selling around the world.

I am a member of the Clifton Art Society the oldest Art Society in the UK.  At the beginning of May 2023 I had exhibited some of the artwork from my books at the Clifton Suspension Bridge Visitors Centre.

Year 2022 -  COMMISSIONED WORK

I have been commissioned to write stories and dedicate Series 2 to the following:-

Series 2 - Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway -  To write a series of Books. 

Book 1 - My Adventure on the Ffestiniog Railway this was launched December 2022

Book 2 Work in progress Porthmadog to Caernarfon.

I have also been commissioned to write a Series 3 to the following:-

Series 3 - Theo The Yellow Bird - Adventures on West Somerset Railway - Minehead.

Book 1 - My Adventure to Minehead Station which was launched April 2023

I will also be writing a special edition book to celebrate their 150th Anniversary

There are going to be several books covering most of their stations
